Leonardo, one of my beloved degus was getting apathetic yesterday and his body temperature was falling rapidly. At 17:00 we visited the Animal Clinic Dr. Neuhofer (I really can recommend this one!). The small fellow got some antibiotica and a depot injection for vitamins and fluid as he was rather dehydrated. The doctor told us that 8 years is a rather high age for a degu and that it could be he wouldn’t survive the night. I kept him warm through the night with a hot-water bottle, stayed with him and tried to feed him several times throughout the night with water and food using a syringe. Now it seems he’s a bit better. He began to eat and drink by himself and he also walks around again, so it’s better than expected. I really hope he gets fine again.
